Seaberry
General characteristics of a Seaberry
Seaberry is the most important thicket pioneer in the dunes. The species is most vigorous in young moist dune valleys. Nitrogen fixation in root nodules allows Buckthorn to establish and expand easily on nutrient-poor sandy soils.
The orange berries are very rich in vitamin C and were used as citrus substitutes during the Cold War in the former Eastern Bloc.

Roots at least 10 cm below ground level.
Dig a planting hole 1.5x as wide as the root system; make sure the roots are covered with soil; do not plant deeper than to where the stem begins.
The plant is dioecious, so you should always plant a male and a female plant for fruiting.
